Detailed annotations using a stylus or an Apple pencil may take up a large amount of storage space. This issue is magnified when using a large screen such as the iPad pro, or when taking notes using handwriting. The stylus records every pixel that it touches. This enables a very crisp display even when zooming the note.
The good news is that there is a resolution! Notate policies allow the IT administrator to set the compression level for annotations and handwriting. We recommend that the compression level be set to "high". This allows the notes to maintain a small enough size to be emailed, and yet retains an acceptable level of handwriting quality.
The handwriting compression level setting can be found on the "General" tab of the Notate application policies on the GC server.
