Enabling Logging in Notate for iOS

Sometimes it may be helpful to turn on diagnostic logging in Notate, particularly if submitting a defect report in the application that needs to be resolved.  Logging monitors what is going on with the application and saves the report to a note which then can be analyzed or sent to Notate support.

To turn on logging, please perform the following steps:  IMPORTANT:  Names specified in quotes are case sensitive.
1.)  Create notebook named “SHAFERSYSTEMS.LOG”
2.)  Tap on the new "SHAFERSYSTEMS.LOG" notebook and create a new empty note.
3)   Notice the note title in light grey that says "New note".  Tap on this area and title the note "exchange.log".  Although it is difficult to type, make sure that the title is all lower case.  Without typing in the note, close the note.
4)  Create another new empty note.  Title this note "notate.log", again all lower case.  Close the note.
5.)  Perform actions in Notate that are causing problems and need to be analyzed.  
6.)  Send the "exchange.log" and "notate.log" notes to support@shafersystems.com  PLEASE NOTE:  (Because log files can be large, please select in the settings “Share notes as RTF” before sending the email with the log)
7.)  To stop logging simply delete the notes
